Tools, equipment and costs beyond tuition

The first tuition figure rarely answers every budgeting question. Build a checklist around the actual equipment and requirements of your chosen course.

Request an itemized supply list

Ask what you must buy, what you can borrow and which items become yours at graduation. Check whether a branded kit is compulsory or equivalent equipment is accepted.

Include costs that recur

Consumables, printing, software subscriptions, replacement protective equipment and travel can add up over the program. Ask how often they are needed.

Ask about exams and retakes

Confirm whether initial exam fees, resits, licensing applications and background checks are included. Check what happens if an exam is scheduled after graduation.

Plan for interruptions

Ask about the price of repeating a practical module, taking a leave of absence and returning after a curriculum change. Keep an emergency buffer in your budget.
