Budgeting for housing and getting to training

A cheaper course can become more expensive if it creates a long commute or requires a move. Compare the full arrangement you would actually use.

Map every required location

A classroom, workshop and clinical placement may be at different addresses. Confirm the locations and schedules before relying on a journey estimate.

Test the commute at class times

Check the first and last public-transport services, parking availability and travel after evening classes. Add a realistic allowance for delays and transfers.

Separate shared and personal costs

Area-wide rent statistics are context, not a quote for a room. Use actual housing listings or a written housing offer for your own budget.

Plan for placements and changes

Ask whether later terms involve different sites or longer travel. Include deposits, moving costs and the cost of returning home if the course is delayed.
