Start with the authority for the occupation

Requirements vary by role and jurisdiction. Look up the state board or public authority for the place you intend to work, then confirm the exact education, practical and examination route with that authority.

For federally regulated routes, use the relevant federal source. For example, aircraft maintenance and commercial-driver training have different authorities and approval systems.
