Choose the starting role and its practical tasks. A certification, bootcamp and associate degree can each offer something useful, but they are not equivalent qualifications.

Preparation that makes the comparison useful
- Practice explaining a technical problem clearly
- Keep reproducible lab notes without customer credentials
- Check software and exam versions and renewal costs
Request actual durations and timetables from the providers you shortlist. Advertised teaching time can exclude prerequisites, waiting lists, exams and the time needed to secure employment. A short course is not necessarily the fastest route to the intended occupation.
