Decide whether you want to install, maintain, inspect or manage. Similar course names can lead to very different work and licensing paths.

Preparation that makes the comparison useful
- Read dimensions and plans accurately
- Discuss indoor/outdoor work, ladders, confined areas and changing job sites
- Budget for protective clothing, tools and travel
Request actual durations and timetables from the providers you shortlist. Advertised teaching time can exclude prerequisites, waiting lists, exams and the time needed to secure employment. A short course is not necessarily the fastest route to the intended occupation.
