What to ask on a school visit

Use a visit to inspect the learning environment and ask practical questions that are hard to answer from a brochure.

See the facilities you will actually use

Ask to see the relevant workshop, clinic, lab or kitchen during normal teaching time where possible. Ask how equipment access is shared among students.

Talk about teaching and support

Ask who teaches practical classes, how feedback works and where a student goes if they fall behind. Ask for the process rather than a general promise of support.

Bring your written checklist

Cover schedule, total cost, placements, exam eligibility, transfer credit and refund terms. Ask for links to the current catalog and policies.

Record what still needs checking

A tour is useful context but does not replace official approval records or a written enrollment agreement. Follow up on unanswered questions before paying.
