The route and evidence
Use the National Registry’s full-education pathway to check education, skills verification and examination requirements. Ask the state EMS authority about the course and the license or certification needed to practise.
Fees to include in your budget
The reviewed National Registry page lists $104 per EMT examination attempt. It lists a $25 recertification fee through September 30, 2026 and $29 from October 1, 2026. School, skills, state and other charges are separate.
Renewal and continued use
Follow the current National Registry recertification requirements and your own expiry date, plus the state’s separate process. Do not infer a renewal date from course completion.

Confirm that the course meets the relevant state and National Registry pathway, how skills are assessed and which fees tuition includes.
Progression after the first credential
AEMT and paramedic are separate education and credential pathways. A completed EMT course does not confer those qualifications.
